Ramayan creates world record with 7.7 crore viewers as the highest viewed entertainment program globally

So we were almost at the end of Lockdown 2.0, and then the government announces for 3.0 which will extend up to 17th May. The week was from using drones to fight COVID-19 to the return of Doordarshan among top viewed channels with Ramayan. Chennai-based Garuda Aerospace is one of the companies working in the drone space. Founded in 2016 by Agnishwar Jayaprakash, the startup, which has built several agricultural drones, is now helping the government in drone-based sanitization projects.

“We have drones for 38 different operations, which include sanitization, agriculture spraying, mapping, industries, security, delivery, and surveillance. We have individual departments for manufacturing parts, importing parts from other countries, sourcing parts from domestic partners, foreign institutional R&D partners, and indigenous autopilot division, and finally, an assembly line to bring out the finished product for testing and calibration,” says Agnishwar.

The startup industry is looking for new bases for investment and funding and to progress further. Now, as the coronavirus lockdown has been extended for the second time, till May 17, let’s take a look at what people are doing in their homes during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and nationwide lockdown, most entertainment channels decided to re-telecast their old shows on popular demand. As a result, Doordarshan won millions of hearts with the re-broadcast of its iconic mythological shows, Ramayan, Shri Krishna, and Mahabharat.

The move has struck gold for the state-owned network, as DD National emerged as the most-watched channel in the country.

The aforementioned feat was confirmed by Prasar Bharati and BARC on their social media handles. The tweet read, “WORLD RECORD!! Rebroadcast of #Ramayana on #Doordarshan smashes viewership records worldwide, the show becomes most-watched entertainment show in the world with 7.7 crore viewers on 16th of April.”

Also, many people have explored different things. As the restaurants and malls are shut and will remain for a longer time. People have started learning to bake the cake and make special items. Also, some are exploring their dance skills and many have taken fitness seriously. India is expected to notice various changes in the lifestyle post lockdown.
